Ana Vujić lives and works as an artist, art historian and curator in Basel. She studied art history, new media and pedagogy at the University of Basel (M.A.) At the moment she is studying Curating at the ZHdK, Zürich (CH).
She is interested in alternativ exhibition culture like artist run initiatives and social engaged art.

Ana Vujić (*1981 in Pozarevac, Serbien) lebt und arbeitet als freischaffende Künstlerin und Kunstkritikerin in Basel. Sie hat an der Universität Basel Kunstgeschichte studiert (Schwerpunkt: Urban Art) und nach dem Master in dem Bereich unterrichtet. Seit 2007 schreibt sie regelmässig für Galerien und Zeitungen und moderierte die Sendereihe "D`Art. Kunst, die ins Schwarze triff" auf Kanal K, die sich mit politisch motivierter Strassenkunst auseinandersetzt. Seit 2011 arbeitet sie als freischaffende Künstlerin mit regelmässigen Ausstellungen im In- und Ausland. 2017 gründete sie Voltage, einen Atelier und Ausstellungsraum in Basel, wo sie regelmässig Themen spezifische Ausstellungen mit auswärtigen Kunstschaffenden organisiert und kuratiert.
Die künstlerische Arbeit von Ana Vujić ist stark vom gesellschaftskritischen Drang des Realismus und dem Trash der Strassenkunst geprägt. Sie arbeitet oft grossformatig, auf Bretter oder andere Abfallprodukte unserer Gesellschaft. Die verschiedene Untergründe bearbeitet sie mit Tusche, groben Markern oder Cuttern. Die figurativen Menschenbilder die so entstehen beinhalten oft Textelemente und sind in Schwarzweiss gehalten. Vujić erzählt nicht von rosigen Zeiten sondern bringt tabuisierte Themen des kapitalistischen Auswuchs auf die Wände, Gefühle, die in unserer medial vorgetäuschten Spassgesellschaft kein Platz finden.

Ana Vujić (*1981 in Pozarevac, Serbia) lives and works as freelance artist and art critic in Basel (CH). She did studie art history in Basel and works as a teacher in this field (main focus: Urban Art). Since 2007 she wrights regularly for galleries or newspapers and moderated a radio broadcast about politically motivated street art. Her newest project is Voltage, a atelier and exhibition space in Basel where she organizes regularly exhibitions and talks. Since 2011 she works as freelance artist and exhibits regularly in Switzerland and abroad.
The Swiss-Serbian artist and art critic Ana Vujić has long been reflecting on social criticism, urbanism and street art as well as scrutinising media representation of socio-economic realities and conflicts. Preferably, she goes about this artistically with found material and coarse instruments, in this particular case working on especially large formats and in stark contrasts of black and white. In the contemporary art world, Ana Vujić's is an incredibly refreshed outlook on the role of art in society and a strong statement as to how art can process and transform individual and collective emotions into images, thereby allowing and enabling repressed reactions to take sometimes loud, sometimes melancholy shape.
